The Challenge:Mainstream historical narratives often overlook the nuanced contributions of Black artists in Hollywood. The challenge was to create a digital space that didn't just list names, but provided context—connecting the early trailblazers of the Blaxploitation era to the contemporary powerhouses of today. I needed to design a site that felt like a digital museum: prestigious, informative, and visually captivating.

The Strategy:I adopted an "Editorial-Web" hybrid approach, bringing the high-contrast, bold aesthetic of my zines into a functional digital interface. The strategy was to guide the user through a curated journey of "Black Excellence," utilizing high-impact imagery and concise, educational blurbs to maintain engagement across diverse demographics.

Design & Strategic Highlights:

• Immersive Visual Curation: Selected iconic film stills and portraiture to serve as the backbone of the site, ensuring the visual identity matched the "Old Hollywood Glamour" and "Modern Edge" of the subject matter.

• Responsive Storytelling: Developed a site architecture that functions like a digital timeline, allowing users to scroll through decades of milestones and achievements.

• Accessibility & UX: Focused on clear navigation and legible typography to ensure the educational content remains the primary focus, while maintaining a sophisticated aesthetic.

• Cross-Media Integration: Designed the platform to complement the Urban Visions zine series, creating a unified brand ecosystem for cultural research and advocacy.

• Call to Action (CTA): Included engagement points that encourage further reading and community sharing, turning the site into a living archive of Black media history.
