Crew Cup Case Analysis

Customer Commitment Analysis

Customer Insights, Predictive Modeling, Subscription Strategy, Business Analytics

The Challenge:In a competitive market, understanding why customers stay is just as important as knowing why they leave. The challenge for Crew’s Cup was to move beyond surface-level satisfaction metrics and uncover the "latent structures" of loyalty—specifically, how habitual, economic, and affective (emotional) commitments influence a user's intent to continue.

The Strategy:I conducted a deep-dive analysis of a five-factor commitment model. Using a dataset of 1,500 respondents, I utilized Factor Analysis to confirm that habitual and economic factors were the primary drivers of retention, explaining nearly 87% of the total variance. I then segmented the audience into three actionable tiers: Casual Users, Committed Regulars, and the Dedicated Core.

Research & Implementation Highlights:

  • Five-Factor Model Validation: Confirmed through statistical loading that Habitual, Normative, Economic, Affective, and Forced commitments are the pillars of the brand's relationship with its users.

  • Regression Analysis: Measured the specific impact of each factor on "intent to continue," proving that a shift toward subscription-based models would maximize economic and habitual ties.

  • Targeted Implementation: * For Casual Users: Focused on affordability and flexibility to build initial economic commitment.
For the Dedicated Core: Proposed exclusive "premium benefits" to reward high affective (emotional) loyalty.

  • Subscription Recommendation: Developed a roadmap for a subscription model that addresses the needs of all segments, providing predictable value for the business and the consumer.

The Result:A comprehensive measurement framework that allows Crew’s Cup to track commitment metrics in real-time. The proposed subscription strategy offers a clear path to increased retention by turning sporadic habits into locked-in economic value.

Key Deliverables:

  • Commitment Factor Report: Detailed breakdown of the five dimensions influencing customer behavior.

  • Customer Segmentation Map: Profile-based categories (Casual vs. Dedicated) with tailored marketing strategies for each.

  • Predictive Regression Analysis: A statistical model evaluating the likelihood of retention based on treatment variables.

  • Subscription Implementation Strategy: A roadmap for a tiered loyalty program designed to maximize lifetime customer value.
